Benicia was named one of the Best Places to Start a Business in Northern California! Coming in at #22 out of 177 cities, Benicia’s unemployment was listed as 5.2%, but is currently at 3.7%. Rankings were based on Business Climate and Local Economic Health. Nerdwallet listed three takeaways:
- Large and small business perform well evidenced by the location of several Fortune 500 companies (Oracle, Google, Facebook, etc.) and the state network of Small Business Development Centers.
- Bay Area is key as the economic epicenter.
- Tourism matters, too. Technology drives Northern California’s economy, but tourism is important.
