Flood Plains

Flooding that causes damage to lands and property in Benicia occurs primarily in response to severe rainstorms coincident with near-saturated soil conditions or high tides, or both.

Seismic Activity

Benicia lies within a seismically active region. The principal faults in the area are capable of generating large earthquakes that could produce strong to violent ground shaking. Most susceptible are unreinforced masonry buildings. Of concern are liquefaction, earthquake related ground failure, and fault rupture.
